The Kunstwerk Institute for Contemporary Art , inside a converted margarine factory, has dedicated itself to facilitating exhibitions, residencies and the Berlin Biennale in. Esteemed filmmaker Christoph Schlingensief and sound artist Janet Cardiff have both been residents and exhibitors at KW and their respective exhibitions in the space are among KW’s most lauded. On top of working alongside some of the most relevant German artists of this decade, they have teamed up with major international institutions like the Venice Biennale and MoMA PS1 to coordinate events and create a discourse about contemporary art in the 21st century.
