Fusing the owner’s interest in fashion, ethnology and art history, International Wardrobe functions somewhere between a textile gallery and a retail store. Wallner appropriates folk costumes with slight customisation and loves to tell the stories behind the one-of-a-kind pieces she offers. Buying directly from artisans during her travels around the globe, she focuses on items from Romania and China. Her favourite jacket, for example, from the Hani people in Hunan, features seven layers of indigo and reflects the landscape of rice terraces found in the Chinese province. Along with contemporary clothing, a nice selection of vintage kimonos is on offer as well as eye-catching trinkets and accessories.
