Mamas Banh has been one of the best culinary surprises this year in Berlin. It’s a family run Vietnamese tapas restaurant in Prenzlauer Berg’s Arnswalder Platz kiez. One of our favourite things was the attention to detail, Mama and her son’s are super friendly, and really care about the food and ambiance, they really make the experience.
The space is charming, and old butchers shop with beautiful tiles, the decor is tasteful and inviting and the family running the place are attentive and friendly, we loved the concept of trying Mum’s favourite meal or the brothers two favourites. Mains are between 7-11 and tapas are all less than 5.
The food is fantastic, Mamas Banh feels like one of the most authentic joints in the city for Vietnamese and really challenges the typical Vietnamese rice and vege meals. They also have a huge vegan and vegetarian selection , including pho , pancakes, and the vegetarian Ban Bao was amazing as are the dumplings, but frankly we loved everything. The vegan options were fantastic. We were also really impressed with the wine selection, well priced and well selected, you can be sure to get quality wines here too.
Make sure to put Mamas Banh on your Summer rotation!
